Salem Thattu Vadai Set Recipe

Famous snack in Salem districts!

Here goes the recipe: Recipe includes two chutneys and veggie stuffing.

Mint coriander chutney


  • Mint – a handful
  • Coriander leaves -2 handful
  • Green chillies – 2
  • Garlic clove – 1 small
  • Lemon juice- few drops
  • Salt as required
  • Oil – 1 tsp

Method of Preparation

  1. Heat oil in pan and sauté coriander leaves,mint leaves,garlic,green Chillies for 3-4 mins.
  2. Add salt,little water,lemon juice and grind to a fine paste.keep aside.

Onion tomato chutney


  • Onion -1
  • Tomato -1
  • Red chilly -1
  • Garlic clove -1
  • Tamarind -small piece
  • Salt as required
  • Oil-1tsp

Method of Preparation

  • Heat oil in a pan and sauté all d ingredients mentioned above for 3-4 mins and grind to a fine paste by adding little water.keep aside.

Veggies stuffing


  • Onion -1 finely chopped
  • Carrot – 1 medium size grated
  • Beetroot – 1 small size grated
  • Corainder leaves – finely chopped
  • Lemon juice – few drops
  • Salt -1/2 tsp

Method of Preparation

  1. Mix all the ingredients and keep aside

For Thattu Vadai Set

  • Thattu vadais (small) – 30
  • Coriander mint chutney
  • Onion tomato chutney
  • Veggie stuffing

Method of Preparation

  1. Take one thattuvadai and apply a small spoon of coriander chutney and place a veggie stuffing over it.
  2. Take another thattai and apply small spoon of onion tomato chutney and place it over d veggie stuffing.
  3. Repeat d above procedure for remaking thattais.

Serve immediately else Thattu Vadai looses its crunchiness.
